Hi friends,
I’ve told myself I would pick up blogging again for the last few years, and I’ve let every excuse lead me to this delayed official restart. It has always been in my heart to write and share my life with my community; but, oh how easy it has been to overcomplicate these words and attempts in fear of not doing it well. However, in a world saturated with fake AI images and so many distorations of the truth, I think an old fashioned blog post may be a bit refreshing. So pardon my imperfections as I finally allow these ideas and our story an uncomplicated exit onto this digital page.
If you have boycotted social media like most of my peers this is a perfect place for you to catch up on what the Tate’s are up to. You may have missed our biggest news on Instagram: we are in the house! We passed our two year milestone at the beginning of April. Yes, that’s right: TWO. YEARS.
We were able to officially move in to our basement around February, 2026 to a temporary kitchen, half finished bathroom and floors throughout the lower level. It was a LOT to move into an unfinished space and I was quite possibly the most stressed I’ve ever been. It’s a gift that this reality is already a memory. Time is funny that way. The present can feel so long, but hindsight feels like it’s stuck in fast forward. Those were relieving, happy days while simultaneously hard and filled with problem solving over how to manage this complete-house remodel while we lived, worked, raised a 4 year old, and tried to have some semblance of normalcy. It’s been quite the juggling act I’ve dropped the ball on in every aspect. No one is perfect over here. Haha
Since moving into the house (5ish months), we have put down nearly all the floors and built our real, lovely, solid, beautiful, and (hopefully) forever kitchen. It’s a dream. Lots of lights have gone in, painting has been done… the two basement bedrooms are nearly complete. Our imaginary detail finishing list is essentially endless.
Here are some photos of where we have been the last few months. I’ll be sharing more soon, starting with the kitchen. We are down to the final touches on the pantry before I give it a good clean and start to take photos to share.
All of this work has led us to a pretty sweet place. We are enjoying the house more, and I’m craving the slow and simple life. A good cup of coffee that is enjoyed before it goes cold. Morning’s looking out the windows listening to Evan play legos as he endlessly builds and creates like his mom and dad. Watching Dean cook in his kitchen that he worked so dang hard to build. This house has been more than we ever could have imagined doing and overcoming. We still have so far to go… but it’s good to be home.
